Doha Marina Club

The project of the new Doha Marina is conceived as an unique opportunity to meet sea and land, modernity and heritage values, local culture and international approach. It will represent a landmark for Doha but even a place to attract visitors, host VIP and Yacht Club members. Last but not the least to become an amazing architectural and landscape device to host sport events related to the sea and sailing. The architectural challenge is to match the local richness and meaning of the Arab architecture with its own geometric and organic texture and pattern like the perforated Musharabia, the lattice and tiling artworks, the simple geometry of the ancient palaces and the traditional water features with the conceptual image of the sail of the Dhaw, one of the symbol of Qatar tradition, here re-interpreted with a contemporary structure to cover the entire complex. A sloping garden with water features and fountains introduce the visitors from the main gate to the drop off area in front of the 4 floors high entrance lobby volume. The lobby is an unique open space with sculptural spiral staircase, water features and panoramic lifts. Toward the east, the lobby becomes as (only) double heighted volume towards the ball room and multipurpose hall, the business centre and the specialty “Jetty” restaurant and bars.

Offices at Albidda Tower

The project is divided in two floors, the upper floor is the presidential floor and the lower floor is the operative floor. These two floors will have two individual unique design, like a new corporate image for Aspire Zone, but even with two different characters for the VIP floor and the Managers floor. For both 39th and 38th floors we focus on group productivity – the Interior design must increase communication, sharing and encourage lateral and innovative thinking. For 39th floor we underline the relations with customers using workspace to narrate corporate vision and identity and thus developing transparency in the working methodology. For the 38th floor we give more attention to the relation with and between employees and managers, enhancing employee’s sense of belonging and satisfaction and creating perception of transparent work method and of how it is expected to be done, encouraging dynamic and creative team work.

Sky Lounge bar

Conversion of the last 2 floors of the Kempinski Residences and Suites, from a luxury suite into a Sky Lounge bar, with a panoramic view to the city of Doha. The project is divided in two parts, as per floor levels 61st and 62nd. The lower one, open to the public, consists of a double height space for hosting various events and a lounge area, along the glass facade, both with view to the city. The upper level, is the VIP area (skybox) with double view to the double height space and at the same time to the outside. Two different spaces, with different target group, combining the modern minimal atmosphere with the luxury and the elegant one.

The open double height space, is considered as the modern area, which hosts various events. One of its main characteristics is the big white wall façade, across the big glass window, on which we have the projection of various images, according to the event. Our goal was to emphasize more this element by creating big contrast of black and white color. The combination of the last with the different colors of hidden lighting creates a nice atmosphere, to the highest part of the town. A dynamic and elegant space as a result of the simple colors, shapes and materials, such us the flooring and walls tiles, specially designed for this project.

The Skybox serves as both a visual and architectural connection between the private opulence of the 62° floor and the trendy and fashionable language of the 61° floor. The box made of clear glass, “hangs” like a protruded object, within the double heighted lounge in the 61° floor.  Its position achieves to have the double views of both the open space below and the city outside through the adjoining glass façade. The combination of luxury and intimacy to achieve a comfortable environment for conducting “business in style” is the principal concept for the 62° floor. The design and finishes of the space is proposed in warm classic colours, hidden warm lighting and simple modern lines. The finishes with the combination of the furniture and the art objects would remind the warm cosy atmosphere of a family space but at the same time would contain a sense of style and sophistication.

Lexus showroom and offices – Doha

The Ground Floor is an open space, mainly defined by the design of the ceiling, the light and the flooring.

The long perspective view of the main axis drive the visitors to the exhibition and to the reception. On both side the 4 sectors of car vehicles show group of cars looking at the visitors with a theatrical effect.

The ceiling in the other zone is done by the same Baffles, that like black louvers partially hide the ceiling services, allows the flexibility for their position. The result is a dynamic space where the white “clouds” individuate the single zones and with no reflex and no shadow light, like natural without the usual  uncomfortable spotlights reflex on the car body.

THE “VERTICAL SHOW-STAIR-CASE” – one of the most interesting space of the Lexus showroom is the panoramic lift elevator and staircase that connect the 3 levels (basement, GF and 1st Floor of the showroom.

This staircase is not necessary for the fire strategy and the safety of the building and it is just a linking device, a monumental connection and transparent space that allows the internal viability.

But it could be used even to introduce the exhibition and the Lexus “Museum” at the first floor.

Like in Omotesando Lexus Showroom in Tokyo, the stairs hosts the artistic installation.

This installation consist of objects, car productions components and car elements that are conceived as part of the aesthetical approach to Lexus advanced design.

The elevator and the stairs bring the visitors from basement and from Ground floor to the first floor.

Here we find the Lexus parallel world to automotive that completes the visitors journey and introduces all the themes of Lexus research, provides a calm space for relaxation of the customers,

Here we find the executive offices and the complex facilities like a multipurpose space for exhibition, a large choice of car finishing, audio system test, car accessories showcases, Lexus merchandising, gadgets and Lexus fashion corner, a bookshop-library, a coffee lounge bar, a space for video watching (Lexus Cinema), a smoking area, genders guests privilege toilettes, bathrooms with shower and private Hammam (steam room), disable toilettes, separate male and female prayer rooms. In the same block of the services are located the bar back of house, the staff kitchenette, stores and technical room.

Al Quds Tower

The main concept is based on the extension of the image of one of the most important symbolic holy building of the middle east, the al Quds Mosque.
In fact this 100 floors tower is planned to host 4000 Palestinian expatriate inhabitants.
All the public functions for the residents are distributed vertically.
Five floor high “sky gardens” interrupt the circular ring shape of the terrace disc, marking the tower in a spiral sequence of open air public spaces.
The shape of the podium is in continuous relation with the rings of the residential floors. The artificial contour lines of the podium change gradually adapting to the cylindric sequence of discs of the tower.
This tower(400m high) is in the diametric opposite position of the similar shape of Jean Nouvel Tower(200m high). In this way the Doha Cornice in the West Bay seaside find the relationship through similar Landmarks.

Aida Boutique

The Aida luxury boutique, a box shaped two floor volume that emerges from the podium of Alfardan Towers, hosts trendy griffes from fashion and beauty.
The use of neutral colours and materials transforms the products into true protagonists. White boxes are used as showcases; they are framed by polished reflecting stainless steel and offer drawers for prompt storage.
The glass walls designed with a pattern of modern “musharabia”; provides partial privacy for comfort of female customers.
The challenge was to design an innovative boutique in an Arabic country.

BMW Showroom

A wide area of 3040 sqm is occupied  by BMW showroom, that holds the vehicle exhibition and sale offices at ground floor and mezzanine floor. The offices have a view outside through wide glass walls; privacy is granted by an adhesive film which shows publicity images and projection of the brand.
The entire flooring is made of black high-tech stoneware. All internal partitions are made of backlit glass to give the space a feeling of openness and light.
Tables in the meeting and manager room are designed by Peia using Corian and carbon fibre.
The entire ceiling above car exhibition area is made of backlit stretched ceiling: with the aid of LED-RGB lights the ceiling changes colour during evening and night hours, creating a dynamic space.

Qatar National Bank

A “giant modern minaret” or an elegant “panoramic offshore oil platform” could represent interesting ideas to fight the habitual “international style” by mirroring curtain walls mixed with superficial local decorations that hosts the corporate headquarters in the middle east.
To break the usual typology of office towers, this proposal of 40 office floors with an average of 1000 sqm per floor is characterized by extension of random cantilevered slabs.
The iconic meaning is related to the world of banks and the fluctuating graphs of stock exchange.
A huge transparent double height space hosts all the public functions of the bank including the front office halls, a multipurpose conference hall, a small mosque and internal gardens.
In contrast with the square shaped towers the organic podium is surrounded by reflective water pond.
The connecting bridges in front of the few entrances empathizes the feeling of being secured despite the complete surround transparency of the façade.

The Oyster Pavilion

The realization of a new Landmark for Doha represents a real occasion for the comparison between cultures, bringing out common ground, exalting cultural autonomy and tradition of the country and positive tension towards the future of the contemporary world, between global and local necessities.
The institutional building needed a clever and symbolic formal definition.
A new modern sales centre had to be found on some categories of customers’ feeling:
Spectacular view of the entire project of the island by the exhibition of the big model, an amazing description by images, further models, 3D movies, touristic movies, friendly assistance to sale and velocity to the knowledge of the offer, flexibility of space, privacy and  transparency, last but not the least, the sensation of one of the best spot where it is possible to invest and buy houses, villas, retail shops, tourist complex and marinas.
The project follows these issues and their simple translation towards an architectural character, that makes these concepts recognizable even before performing the correct function of a showroom with its own facilities for the clients.
The pavilion, shaped like an Oyster, to proceed with the metaphorical relationship with the “Pearl” island. The building is permanent, but fiber-glass fabric was chosen for the ‘’shell’’ to adapt easily  to the difficult shape and to construct faster.
The pavilion is surrounded by water pond to introduce a straight relation with the sea.

Udc Offices

Inside the ‘Alfardan Centre’ in Doha, a large showroom of 1500 sqm was built to present the project of “the Pearl of the Gulf”, an artificial island with residential and tourist settlements of upper high class.
The goal was to create an extremely free environment, elegant and modern, as a fashion or design showroom, where visitors could feel at ease and comfort, to “visit” the Real estate project of the island, through a huge exhibition and iconographic system with backlit still images, video clips and 3D animations, with large plasma screens and rear-projection systems.
The ceiling, reflective and “mobile” in the big double-height hall of the entrance with the escalators is illuminated by three large hanging light pearls, symbol of the project of the island exhibited in “Showroom Gallery “
