Sport Centre – Salsomaggiore

This sport centre is conceived to be a place for the citizens mostly to facilitate the youth socialization.
A 60 X 30 X 15 metres prismatic volume hosts the multipurpose sport pavilion. The north facade keeps a good natural light and becomes a lantern in the night to illuminate the open air playgrounds in front of it.
The organic shape of the bar/restaurant/sport club red building follows the curve of the athletic tracks. The structure is simple: two curved walls embrace a staircase to reach the terrace. In the opposite side the walls follow the hill with two different sculptural shape.
The roof terrace works like a special tribune to watch the sport events and the football matches in addition to the big public tribune.
The concept is in this clear contrast between the two buildings, the “box” in aluminum and glass panels and the “curve” staircase by the red “organic” walls.
The low budget drove the programme of this public project, yet the result, in terms of quality and low emission building target matches the social success of this centre.

Andy Warhol Show

In 2004, the famous Triennale Museum decided to host the biggest exhibition of Andy Warhol, till date.
The project for this exhibition space used intense re-interpretation of the creative peculiarity of the artist, but avoiding over imposing his work.
In fact the objective was “to drive” the re-reading across theme rooms, on wall graphics, Warholian wallpapers, projections, which are also directed on the ceiling to be enjoyed watching stretched out on a spacious big sofa inside the “lounge centre” of the main room. This room shows portraits and accommodates the fashion objects created by the artist and by who has been inspired by his works.

Loft Cadolini

A square shaped matrix and its multiples form  a layout of changeable geometries using sliding partitions
Research of a domestic habitat expandable to urban scale with elements of flexibility and immediate changeability (from open space to separated rooms) to adapt to human life dynamics (single-couple-family) without nullifying the open space element.
The white mono-chromatic space is enclosed by two opposed strips of teak-wood: the outdoor terrace on one side and the multi-level platform with a recessed stainless steel bath tub on the other.
The only chromathic variations to the white and wood are the coloured lights behind milky glass and the video system which projects dynamic images on the wide white wall of the living room.

Tad Store – Roma

This retail space of 1300 sqm is distributed in two levels, where fabrics and furniture collections are exhibited along with spaces dedicated to beauty, fashion, restaurant and media communication.
At the entrance we find cut-off flowers alternating with small sushi of wild bulbs and bamboo plants dipped in water.
In the central area of the retail, a room is dedicated to digital exhibitions and is equipped with plasma screens and video-projectors, next to the beauty salon.
The complexity of the plan comes from the old structures of ancient palace in the centre of Rome and also with a clear intention to recreate a modern ‘Suk’ with internal streets and courtyards.
This urban sensation is provided by natural and artificial sky lights.

Bain & Cuneo Office

The project pertains the headquarter of a business group of financial consulting that operates in the area of web economy. The objective has been to conjugate technological and computer contents with a comfortable environment, sober and elegant; that led to the choice of an open distribution, simply keeping in mind the requirements that give visual privacy and necessary acoustics to the inside consultants.
The space is an alternate of empty spaces and “boxes” made of glass spanning from floor to ceiling.  Furniture elements shaped like towers with translucent materials and colours are the only volumetric presence together with the wood finish tables with central structure in steel, designed in a way to hide all the wiring cables.
The entire office is conceived with the highest criteria of automation and digital control.
The absence of traditional switches contribute to the search for synthesis between invisible technology and new and natural materials.

Inferentia

This Milanese building dating from the critical construction boom that swept through Italy in the 1950s has been successfully converted for use as office space for a renowned internet service provider. The host building interfaces with its surrounding via curved vertical surfaces in glass block and other frontage ranged with bands of windows. This unusually copious quota of daylight proved instrumental in meeting one of the project’s principal requirements, namely, besides addressing all the specific functional and operational specifications, the needs of each worker would likewise be dealt with an individual basis via intelligent use of light and colour. High priority was given to ensure quality in all core communal functions so as to foster easy interaction among employees, a category of worker which in this particular sector tends to be supplanted by technology.
The project gives an immediate sense of the distribution in which the open plan arena has been carefully orchestrated with coloured translucent pens to create separate private enclosures without actually interfering with the building layout.
The entire project exudes a sense of concentrated but understated complexity, handling the graphics, signage advertising and entire lighting project.

Factory – Offices CISAL

The planning of the new factory of  CISAL S.p.a.company, an industry that produces taps and other bathroom components and accessories, required the construction of a large compact complex designated to productive activity and a robotized warehouse with vertical storage.
The industrial master plan is completed with the conversion of the present sheds into technical, administrative, representative offices, laboratories, workshop and showroom.
The new production building, showing itself in plan and materials like a single large volume, is composed in reality from three buildings with different functions, typologies, characteristic of dimensions and construction.
The main objective of the project was to give the construction industry an expressive architectonic look, simply remaining in a constructive field of pre-fabrication, which means economy,  fast execution and easy management.
The respect of the environment, between a lake and a huge granite cliff, is mainly achieved by the compact shape in order to save space and greenery. The construction materials and the cogeneration system complete the low emission strategy.
The façade of the robotized warehouse with a vertical storage is the main scenographic approach. During the night it becomes a large lantern on the lake.

Getrag

Getrag is a holding that operates in the automobile industry to produce all the German car brands’ gear boxes and other car components.
The theme of the gear, icon of the “car”, influenced the character of the architecture and its stylized symbol is repeated in the company logo, that is imbedded as the negative of a large fireproof oblique wall that looks like a ship prow.
The new Italian branch is a complex industry, constituted of many areas, buildings, functions: the large undivided volume of the factory (150 for 150 m), the social services and the installations, the multi-purpose building with the workshop, the training centre, the canteen, the office building and the centre of research and development, the guard’s lodge and other buildings for the installations.
In the axis with to the entrance there is a garden, with local essences and palms, that connects all of the buildings and functions that regulate the activity and organization of the company.
The courtyard between the building hosts a “Mediterranean garden”, crossed by a giant “eye” shape bridge and canopy. The architecture and the materials want to create a synthesis between the south Italy culture and the high technology world.

Film Master

The concept of the project was the creation of a new office for FilmMaster (the most important Italian film production company for advertising), which is characterized by a sequence of courtyards.
The theme of the office has developed towards the idea of “workshop of images”, arriving at the concept of “cinematographic atelier “. In fact the space is defined as an articulation the relation between light and shadow, which are the building materials of cinema and architecture as well.
The tall volume of the factory between two courtyards assumes two main functions: at the ground floor we find areas related to the functions of receiving (reception, meeting rooms), waiting (lounge area and bar with large screens) and the connection between various levels; in the first floor we find the producers and executive producers offices.
The basement is conceived to host the production and postproduction studios.
